  • Piskie's Potential Patch Part 1

So, having read in early December that some plots were becoming available in January and asking you lovely peeps if it was a totally barking idea given that I'm married to military - off I toddled today to the library to locate persons-in-charge of lotties.

First stop - bottle back at Parish Council Car Park to offload all the bottles of boozed that I haven't been drinking

Second stop - the Library to ask if they knew who I should contact for the allotments, nice lady sent me to the Parish Council 'they are open today' says nice lady

Third stop - back at Parish Council, I knock on first door - no answer, second door - no answer, third door - no an.....lady appears from toilets, 'can I help you my dear' she says 'although I don't know much as I'm only here doing a bit of voluntary', I didn't ask what the voluntary consisted of. 'I'm trying to find the person in charge of Benson allotments, I was told they were here today' says I, 'oh my dear they were here but I think they have skipped orf early due to the boss not being in' she giggled

Fourth stop - newsagents to buy February issue of GYO

So armed with telephone number I will call on Monday (assuming my voice is back by then)

Oooh, how infuriating for you Piskie! Still, at least you got rid of the empties (which you hadn't drunk....), and got your GYO
Hopefully, the boss WILL be in on Monday, & your lottie bod will actually be doing his job??!!

Don't worry, Monday will soon come round...!

          Piskie Escapades.

*See Piskie scuttling along avoiding searchlights and leaving doped sausages for guard dogs, and measuring up the best empty plots ready for Monday.

Why dont you go down there Sunday Morning...allotments are usually heaving with people on Sundays.

Surley the site Manager will be around, or sombody might know him/her...

Worth a thought, if you get lucky you can have a good look around the site, pick a plot or two.!

                      Take your camera!!!

Try to come over as keen, but welcome any advise - allotmenteers love to be flattered. If they start edging away from you, you've overdone the 'keen'.

....and a full report tomorrow, missy, if you would!

I went up there at 1030 and again at 1130 but no sign of any humans

I had a good wander round and the place has a really peaceful feel to it.

I came across what I can only assume is the 'communal hut' - if it is .... wooow, lovely - it looked almost like a garden centre but without all the unnecessary sundries (!!) - they had lots of staging out which was full of labelled-up pots which I'm guessing would be for sale.

A lovely little stream runs alongside this 'communal' area, it was gently bubbling away, so peaceful.

So it's back to waiting for the 'man from the Parish' to say yaaaay

Sounds like you have really got your hopes up.

Perhaps everybody has that poo-flu thingy, or perhaps they saw you coming and all hid.

Good luck tomorrow and if you will a 2 page report on Allotments and the benefits by 9pm tomorrow night. I thankyou.
