You Are Not Alone - Yet Another New Allotment

Last Saturday I popped down to Denton Dene allotment to meet up with Snadger who showed my three allotmets.

The first was well worked with a green house at the front and nice looking soil.
The second was overgrown and had a nice shed/greenhouse at the back next to some trees.
The third plot, well that was the one I went for. Alot of stuff needs to be carted off, alot of rotted wood to be burned, bit needing to be rebuilt or removed (eventually), well they say a picture says a thusand words so here some pikkies.

At the moment the plot is split into three sections by the structures. Here's the front section

The metal fence of the left will be going soon as the previous plot holder sold it on. Theres a fair chance that once that goes the shed on the left will keel over.

    Now for the main section

At the back of the structures from the front section is a, erm, general storage pile

and at the top of the beds is a greenhouse

Behind the grenhouse is the last section where they used to keep chickens. The leanto is full of wood that needs to be sorted, a blue clamshell sandpit and bags of earphones, plastic dolphins and other things.

Theres three sheds in this bit

Thse fencing pannels will be repurposed - possibly as compost bins. To the right of the sheds is a tap that works, which means I'll only evey have to traipse half the length of the ploy with watering cans (theres a tap at the bottom as well)

I can see why you chose that Plot rather than the others - but then I'm a Nutter too

In estate agent speak - that plot has potential. Looking forward to seeing the next set of pikkies

Good gawd...what did the other plots look like?

Having said that I can see the potential...a few trips to the tip and a few bonfires and a few sessions with a hammer and nails ...yup, it HAS got potential!

You've got your work cut out there though im sure most of that rubbish can be recycled and used. Love the slabs/paths and you have a little shed there too to make a cuppa ..I think you choose well. Keep us updated with your progress, I'm looking forward to the next set off pics already

There was a lot of wood that wasn't salvageable and I had a bit of a burn yesterday. Most of what's left is reusable but there is still quite a bit that's too wormey and rotten so I might still have another burn before the end of the month.

The other plots were less work. One was ready for planting straight away and the other needed digging and weeding.

This plot is as bit bigger than the others and I quite like the fact that there's three "rooms" - front parlour, main room and inner sanctum. Of course that may all change in time.

Wow what an exciting find - so much potential. I would have gone for that as well because you will be able to do just what you want. The possibilities are endless. Don't forget your flask and biccies as you contemplate whats going where.

At the moment there's 5 sheds and 2 greenhouses (the right hand bit in the front parlour is covered in twin wall polycarbonate) so I can have one she'd for tea, one for coffee and still have space to store tools, pots, etc.

Going through the bags as well as plastic dolphin there's a few with scaffold netting.

Why not? In a years time I can look back and see what I've achieved.

The bits that are there mean that I can get on and plan what I want to keep or change as I've got quite a bit to work with (beds, sheds etc) and don't have to buy everything in the first year.
The soil in the beds is gorgeous and crumbly, the slabs on the paths meen less weeding and no plodging in mud without having to carry them all onto the plot myself.

The growing area looks good, fab slabbed paths..once that junk is sorted and binned it won't look to bad
