Thanks a lot for that, really makes it nice and clear. So much so i spent a little time whilst washing up the sunday lunch things watering me seedlings.
I didnt have the pink nail varnish though, will that make a difference ?
Does capillary action work if you have crock/rocks in bottom of pots though? As some of my plants I put these in to aid drainage, but will consider not putting them in this summer for toms etc if i can water from below
Do you know if that technique for watering works as well for plants that have crocks or stones in the bottom of the pot? As some of mine have, and I'm not sure if the water would suck up through the stones?
hi 2sheds. Thanks for the video it's most helpful. My need to water seedlings, etc, has reduced but i'm always worrying about it so things like this are of enormous help.
The algae is a good indicator that water logging isn't going to do much for the plants. If the soil or compost in the pots get hydrophobic, then this technique works to re-wet the media, but it's something that you should only do on occasions.
