  • Scion wood

I know it's a bit early in the year but I was wondering if anyone would be interested in exchanging scion wood for the 2018 grafting season? I have a few varieties of pear and over 30 Apple varieties, and a few cherries and plums. I'll do a list if anyone is interested.

Now let me see ... would I be interested ..... Oh that's a hard one

Subject to finding some healthy exchange material here, I've a few apples, pears, plums and blueberries.

I cut a lot last year though and no one wanted it - it's still in the fridge

Obviously subject to healthy growth this season. I thought it might be better to arrange something prior to cutting scions to avoid waste as you've mentioned.

Is still far off but my mind is already planning ahead.

I'd be interested in buying some apple scions flynch. All the grafts i've done this year have died.

Hi Moss. Buying/ money exchange is not permitted on the vine. Swaps, giving and sending stamps for postage are the norm. and fine. There is also a 3month and 50 post rule which is more about being an active member than someone taking the pee http://www.growfruitandveg.co.uk/gra...nce_76437.html

I'll be summer pruning the unruly espaliers shortly, if anyone wants to reserve a branch, I'll leave it on until scion cutting time, shout now.

                  Jonagold
                  James Grieves
                  Kidds Orange Red
                  Winter King
                  Winter Nellis (pear)

There's a reasonable amount of the above - I'll do the cordons and spindles a little later but the rosey apple aphids have had a field day with them so there's a lot less suitable material.

                    Hi L,

I'm interested in the Kidds Orange Red and the Winter King not too bothered as to when, though I will be away in late September. I grow a bit of a mix of stuff amongst which is :-

                    Court Pendu Plat
                    Ashmead's Kernel
                    Tydeman's late orange
                    George Cave
                    Orleans Reinette.

                    Comte d'Althans gage
                    President
                    Coe's Golden drop

I don't prune much until winter usuaually, but always happy to lop a bit off any time, if the tree is growing OK

                    Cheers

                    Nick

I'll allocate the branches. I'll leave them on until the tree is dormant before cutting; anything on the espaliers not wanted is getting summer pruned, they're carrying no fruit this year and have become very fuzzy.
