  • Seedling ID

Well, I planted some seeds in this pot and two varieties have popped up. I'm sure the seedlings (2) with the grass/strap like seeds are the one I put in. Anyone have any ideas on the other 4....am I growing weeds?

The one with toothed leaves looks like honesty.
The red stemmed one doesn't look like a weed.

Thanks VC...I know Which plant the seeds came from but I don't know the name of it. It is a wild flower, quite unusual as it has large clock like heads when finished...a bit like a dandelion but prettier.

Could you give us a clue with the colour?
        Is it blue?

Could it be wild salsify? I have that in my garden and it has lovely big clocks after yellow flowers that don't stay open very long, and long narrow leaves.

Ah, that's the same species that's cultivated for eating, though it often grows wild too. Probably the cultivated strains have better roots than the wild ones. There are also two yellow flowered wild species, and I did once find out which one pops up in my garden but now I can't remember. The flowers have some small differences, but I don't think I have one flowering now to check. It's a weed in my garden really, but I like to see them around. The neighbours probably don't approve though, because the seeds blow away.
