  • Lunar Sown/Planted Veg Record

My first early Rocket Potatoes weighing 4lbs 2oz, from five tubers sown in a container bag. They had New Horizon growbag compost and were earthed fully (4-6" depth) each time I saw leaves. They had an initial feed of organic potato fertiliser at time of planting. That's it! Nothing else except water. From recollection I have ended up with more spuds than last year and in a quicker timeframe. They were sown mid March and harvested last week. We have been provided with enough potatoes for a family of four for the last five nights. I am quite pleased. These filled 2/3 of a bucket.

Just checked my diary and these were put in on the 17th March.

Great crop VVG. I see they were put in on St Paddys Day! Lunar influenced or luck of the Irish?

It would be interesting to compare with a test crop planted out on a none lunar day. As you know I am sceptical but there no denying you have a great crop - better than last year!

Maybe there's something in it! I look forward to Zazes study results.

    Loving my allotment!

I remain open minded and next year intend to follow the synodic cycle; this year's has been biodynamic, which is the astral bit that I know you struggle with. I don't care which works best so long as I yield a good healthy crop. Previously I have always sown/planted whenever. This year's plants are stronger, bigger, healthier. Out of nearly a thousand seeds sown only three have failed to germinate. I never pre chit. I will take some photos and post them in my album.

Thanks Bronwen. Pulled onions yesterday - no failures/disease, although out of 120 sets planted I have four that suffered set division. Onions range in size between 3-5 inches across - have some corkers! Never fed them - just soil and occasional water. These were my staple crop for this year along with potatoes and I did not want to suffer major failure, so am really pleased.
Rest of potatoes - second earlies coming up in a week.

I think he's talking about your results from previous years - remember you shared some stats when the erm "debate thread" was up there.
