  • How did you get yours?

Just wondering how everybody came about their grapevine names?
Mine is Ancee. Because my two small nieces called me it as they couldn't pronounce my name (Nancy), I'm now called Nanty Nancy by one and Ancee Ancee by the other one! So, how did you get your names? Some of them are brilliant and/or intriguing, which is why I ask 😊
You may say I'm a dreamer... But I'm not the only one...

There is no story behind mine. I've just shortened Carrie Ann to Cari Ann and put my birth year on the end of it.

I live in London, my hair is brown & grey, the hedge along my plot is full of sparrows - it seemed to fit... Since I couldn't just have sparrow, I added my plot number.

My name is Mally & I'm 6'3". Always been known as big Mally since I was a kid. The extra "L" was a typo when registering................

Really enjoying these replies some are not as self explanatory as you would first think.
Carriann I thought you were named after a plant.
Sparrow, I thought perhaps that was the number of sparrows in your garden.
Veggie chicken. I thought you were vegetarian! Vegetables hadn't occured to me! Doh!
Mrs Wadders. For some reason I've always read that as Mrs Waders as in long, green, fishing wellies! I thought you were a fisher Woman!
Jungle Jane, brought to mind an outdoorsy Bear Gryls type of girl.
And ARpoet. I thought coz you were Yorkshire it was AR as in our. Our poet, our Mam etc!
                    Hope more people post theirs!

Mine's a nickname from school. There were 5 Janes and 5 girls with the initials JB (some of them being other Janes) in my year. Any Janes that had a middle name were called by their first and second names. I don't have a middle name so I was called JanieB. Actually YanieB to start with because of those of us learning Latin and German. It stuck and friends who know me really well and also my family still call me by this name. One still calls me Yanie.
