There was definitely something unusual going on with the forum earlier. When going from page to page I was getting prompts to download the latest Flash player, then the latest version of Java. Neither of the click-through links were official ones. Those are classic symptoms of a site having been hacked and malware distribution code installed. I ran a full scan like you Dolly and all fine on my own machine, but I'd just stress to everyone not to follow any such links which appear while using the Vine. Your PC will prompt you separately for any recommended updates; it won't wait for you to go into this forum.
Different pages,i also had one of them java adds,i am not off a tecy nature, thank you for the info you have given,i am now lost,so far,it has moved on,MODS,would this warning be better elsewhere on the forum,so is more distinctive for peeps to see,and be aware.

It might've been trouble with one of the sites pulled in by the ad servers, i.e. the four small square ads along the top and the Google ads down the right. The problem seems to have gone away now and if the GYO developers haven't done anything it might well be a case of a remote advertising site having fixed a local malware issue that happened to be presenting here on GYO depending on what adverts the luck of the draw happened to serve up to each of us. Sorry, that's tricky to explain clearly.
I have some of the advert boxes at the bottom with red no-entry signs on.
If I hover the cursor it says the ad is blocked.
That seems to clinch it. One or more of the sites in the adverts have had malware on them today. As the ads are on a rota, some of us have encountered the affected ones and others haven't.

I use an Ad Blocker plugin with my browser - specifically to spot any misbehaviour by an advertisement which would be outside the control of any site that I was looking at.
(I use AdBlock Plus, but its not a recommendation as such as I expect I just choose the first one that I found; it seems to work OK FWIW)
