  • Do chickens eat frogs?

As i am planning to let the chickens wander around the garden at least some of the time (probably at weekends whilst supervised!) i was wondering about the likelyhood of them eating any frogs that emerge from the pond (they're all just tadpoles at the moment).
The frogs were intended to eat the slugs from the veg patch, but i've heard that chickens like to eat slugs so maybe the frogs aren't needed - but i still wouldn't like to see them get eaten!
    thanks

I'll say chickens eat frogs! I have 14 chooks and they all like to eat frogs and newts, but only 2 like slugs!!

They will also eat small mice and field voles. My sisters chooks get the boxing gloves out for small fury things. I didnt believe her till I saw it for myself.

One of my girls was tearing across the garden this evening with a dead mouse in her beak - probably supplied courtesy of our puddycat! Yuk!!! I don't want mouse flavoured eggs!

I have seen my chickens running around with chicks (any type of chick) that the cat has caught and then had pinched, I usually manage to get them off of them but this morning I saw one with a pair of legs hanging out of its beak and it gulping the rest of it down!!

                    dont ya just love them....
they have the most disgusting (next to me) eating habits ...anything that crawls, slides, runs or squirms is fair game to them....and we eat them and their eggs.....lol

                    wouldn't be without them tho.....

You mean because a hen has eaten meat? I'm a veggie with chickens and it doesn't bother me
