  • fitting auto roof vent openers on a secondhand greenhouse

I want two auto roof vent openers in my greenhouse. It was secondhand and I haven't a clue what make it is. One of the windows doesn't fit brilliantly and hasn't got a latch?/closer on it. My stepdad came over from Wales to help me take it down and put the frame up, I managed to put the glass in myself ( my OH doesn't do DIY unless its something to do with his push bike!)
So, as a rubbish DIYer will this (see link) fit any greenhouse windows and do you think it will be easy to fit?

Noooooo don't attempt it i found it impossible, how the hell do they work. I found a fabulous roof vent and it cost nothing (i could be on super scrimpers me ) Simply enter the greenhouse and if it feels hot push open the roof windows and prop up with a piece of wood, simple as that.

pssst Linzy, the idea is that the windows open without you needing to be there

They aren't difficult to fit. Even I fitted one in half an hour easily and I am pretty useless at DIY.(My husband is good at DIY but he just never gets round to doing things.) They are also easy to maintain. Mine get a good coating of petroleum jelly once a year and that's it. They all seem to fit any greenhouse. It's great on a hot day knowing my plants aren't going to fry if I don't go down to the allotment early.

Thanks everyone I'm going to bite the bullet and order them today. It looks reasonably simple . Thelma, I hope that little winking smilie isn't really trying to tell me that it took you hours to fit and get it to work!!! I'll let you all know how I get on....

Bren, tell the truth, is this more interesting than watching paint dry(I'm fed up doing that)

I'm rubbish at DIY and I managed to fit mine. When I put it on my old greenhouse, I couldn't get the screw holes to match up so I used cable ties... It still worked though

Mine wasn't screwed into the frame instead it used some grippers placed either side of the frame.
