  • Good brands of Greenhouse

I am looking to purchase a new greenhouse. I really dont know what brands I should be looking at. I know I want an automatic opening vent and a bottom louvre. Anything else?

You need to decide size, as big as you can get both price and location wise. No matter how big, spring always sees you wishing for more....

Glass or polycarbonate is next choice, personally I'm partial to glass, however with young kids polycarbonate is safer.

How tall are you? Do you want to build a small retaining wall to place it on?

      Pots or permanent beds?

      Oh and happy browsing

Use a well known search engine or the search function on here to search the forum, there's a wealth of info on here

Well from previous time years ago when I had a second hand one, it was single door - that was fine for me. Steel colour is ok, I'm not bothered about having it green.

However, the kids football does come over occasionally from the neighbours, so perhaps polycarb would be better, or I had thought toughened glass

          I am thinking 8 x 10 on a slab base.

I am a bit confused though when it comes to the brands when I search

Rhino are fantastic greenhouses. Really well made to last - my daughter has one. They are pricey, but I found this one on special offer Rhino Premium 8x10 - Greenhouses Direct

Its always about price, first decide how much you want to spend then look for the best deal.
              Location....East Midlands.

A lot depends on your location, particularly how much wind the greenhouse is going to be exposed to. If it were in a sheltered suburban back garden I'd be happy with a budget priced one, like something in the Halls range. But if you're at all exposed you will want to get something more sturdy. See the thread on here this week for a picture of a cheap greenhouse blown away in the gales!

... and spend as much as you can. I saved up a long time for mine. I needed a windproof one (we're on the coast, the wind varies from strong to gale force most days).

I got a baby Rhino, installed by a man (because RustyLady and I couldn't even lift the panes of glass ourselves)

She's got a £150 poly thing and always grows better chillies than me, so even the best gh in the world won't make you a better gardener

I have a Rhino Premium and love it. Incredibly strong and just feels high quality. Can't fault it at all. Greenhouses Direct were able to recommend someone to install it who did a good job.
