  • Jerusalem Artichokes Warning

Not sure if this has already been stated, but thought I would say it anyway.

Don't put JA bits in a wormery, as they will start to grow (though mine is inside and it is nice and warm in there). Looked the other day to find a few JAs starting to grow and take over the wormery. Bloody things are now drying out before being chopped up and put in compost bin. Worms didn't like them either.

I dug up some leylandi last year, they formed a front border between our house and next door. They were starting to get out of hand, devils trees and all that, so dug them out.

Thought I would put in some JAs as they are supposed to produce a nice screen.

They turned out to be monster triffids, they grew very tall and waved all over the place. Did get some tubers though.

Think it will be a big row of runner beans this year. Nice and dependable with pretty flowers, and there should be shed loads of beans. Or french climbing beans.

Anyone recomend a varaity for a screen or are they all OK.
