black forest climbing courgette

My neighbour tried them last year and kindly gave one to me. It was doing really well then a gust of wind whipped it out of the ground and down the garden - I was gutted.

They grew well for her - she tried one in the greenhouse and a couple outside but commented that she wasn't particularly impressed by it's climbing abilities.

I tried it last year and wasn't impressed with its climbing ability either! Also yield and flavour were not to my taste.
Luckily had also grown my favourite Trieste White from Real Seeds and I'm going back to that one again this year.
These are the pale Lebanese type, far less watery than the thin green courgettes and having something of an avocado texture to them. Very prolific, got 147 courgettes from two plants...
These are well worth trying, don't take up too much space either, especially considering the yield.
I will be experimenting this year with Clarita from Marshalls which is also a Lebanese type.

Grew one of the climbing ones the other year and basically they don't really climb but it's a great way of selling the sprawling habit that some have naturally. Personally I found it quite productive and a nice taste but not worth the over inflated price of the seed and I'd have been well annoyed if I'd actually paid for them rather than got them in a swap.

Wow! I was warned that courgettes were high yielding, but that's insane! What floor area did these plants take up?

Does this courgette taste in any way chocolatty or like cherries?

I grew this climbing courgette when first released but wasnt at all impressed.If you train a trailing courgette upwards(planted in large tub and trained up several canes )they do better! They only taste chocolatey if cooked in choc courgette cake!!!
