  • Insect Netting

Hi guys I am looking for something to try and keep insects and birds off of my crops, has anyone ever used Ultra-Fine Insect-Mesh Netting or something similar?
If so could you recomend the ones to use?

    Thanks

Its called enviromesh. 'Ultra fine' not essential. Like net curtains really. It doesn't have the insulation value of fleece...but it lasts much longer 5 years+.

Great stuff..especially for moths and carrot fly etc..just invested in a roll....1.8m X 50m @ £100. Most places will sell you shorter lengths @ slightly higher rate

Debris netting that they use on building sites is really good. They use it to cover scaffolding and wire mesh fencing. It is very strong and also UvV stable.
A great way to keep the butterflies off your cabbages.

We use a Tape Monofilament Netting which has proven fantastic for keeping pests and insects out, providing shade but also allowing UV and water through. It's strong and has lasted us for 3 years so far - from the first few shelves of salad growing outside to now acting as the protection for our raised beds - supported by a framework of wooden posts and strong wire guide lines.

Hi, the best I have found too is enviromesh; also 'butterfly netting' is excellent for brassicas', both will last for several years.

            Insect Netting

Enviromesh every time. may not be as warm as fleece, but it can create its own mini environment. Also, it does not tear! (Well, mine never has.) Keeps all mini beasts out.

I'm gonna be buying some of this stuff.

Given what you get for the price it's a bit of a no-brainer.

I used some old voile last year, it worked a treat, nothing got through where I put it, just I didn't have enough, so other things got munched.
