What says summer more than a bowl of freshly harvested home-grown salad leaves, dressed simply with juicy, ripe tomatoes, crisp, refreshing cucumber slices and peppery radishes? Salad leaves are easy to grow and offer bountiful pickings, with cut-and-come-again varieties offering a second, third and sometimes even fourth harvest. Most salad leaves can be sown between March and September, and now is an ideal time to directly sow your seeds straight outside.
