Twas the same with Tansy - small but perfect and those photos prove that the English and Welsh can coexist happily! Sorry I don't have a Scottie dog for those up North or Irish Terrier for those further west

Another good tip is to cover your soil with chicken wire and plant the seeds through it. Stops the little blighters digging for the seeds.

The mesh in chicken wire won't hold back mice! A mouse's head is almost flat and if a mouse can get it's head through a space, it can get the rest of its body through as well.

I concur AP - mice squeeze all their bones and bodies flat to get in under door gaps. Half inch mesh stops rats but not mice.

Did you follow the link AP,they do show a certain degree of humour at this firm

This is no ordinary chicken wire; instead, it's a 0.8mm thick, electro-welded, galvanised beast of a mesh designed for poultry cages and runs where rogue or mensa foxes (the cleverest ones) are a particular menace

Interestingly, we've had good results from using chicken wire at the Harrod Horticultural Kitchen Garden. I've used it both on the ground and have made cages from it to line a cold frame with and it has kept the mice at bay. You never know what's going to work for you, so it's always worth a try.
