  • Bean frames

    Hi HH.
This is a product specific query: about 5 years ago, I bought one of your big heavy-duty bean frames which you also did an extension piece for. My frame is still going strong, but it looks like you've discontinued/upgraded them. Is it still possible to get the extension for the old type, or, would any of the new products fit the old frame?

Also, I'd really like to try the 'munty frame' which so many of our members use for their beans, but my DIY skills are practically none-existent, would you consider coming up with something that could slot together like a cross between your fruit cages and your bean frames?

See here for other members frames: http://www.growfruitandveg.co.uk/gra...mes_58608.html

I think Sarz meant Harrod Horticultural - although am sure yours are just fine too

Mine are going to climb the tunnel on strings, right over the top. Hanging beans, haha!

Nope. Which is a shame, cos I was going to ask for whatever they'd recommended for my birthday.

Aye, but £56.00 for their 'Runner bean support frame', or £101 for the fancy 'finial topped' topped one. The extension for the frame I already have only used to be about £30.00.

Heigh ho, I guess canes and Figo connectors will do for this year

Flipping heck. The chaps on the allotment have what look like scaffolding poles in an upturned U shape. I have a munty frame I could swing off be careful what you wish for
Is there nobody that could help you build one? I'm struggling to think of an alternative. Maybe sinking of met posts and precut posts? Lay a lath or half pole across the top and borrow a nail gun?!?

I've got one of those I won it here on the vine

                          Runner Bean Frames - Agriframes

it does look posh in the garden but it does the same job as my usual poles, old fishing rod and canes.

I just bought some 7ft canes and some Figo connectors, see how I go on with them. Although I like the look of the Gardman one on Amazon...

I used those last year and it worked very well. Stayed up better than wigwams.
