Hey all you brewers, I thought I fancied a go at brewing beer.....but well the idea was better than the actuality.
Anyway, I bought one of those old 'beermakers thermostatic heaters' off ebay - would anyone care to swop it for some seeds? I'm not sure it works, but if no-one wants it I'm gonna throw it away?Last edited by smallblueplanet; 14-02-2008, 02:10 PM.To see a world in a grain of sand

Well the celery doesn't look great, at the mo, but I sampled my parsnip wine the other day, and it's fab - well worth experimenting!

6 weeks later...
I've just racked the celery wine off and put it back in the dj (lack of clear bottles, so it can stay in there till I've accumulated a few more).
It looks like this....
and the SG is down to 987 which makes the strength
(1096 - 987)/7.36 = 14.8% which is quite enough to be going on with!
And the taste...well - 'robust' for a white wine...more fruity than buttery/vanilla, but not flowery.
Rather nice, actually.Attached Files
