Hey all you brewers, I thought I fancied a go at brewing beer.....but well the idea was better than the actuality.

Anyway, I bought one of those old 'beermakers thermostatic heaters' off ebay - would anyone care to swop it for some seeds? I'm not sure it works, but if no-one wants it I'm gonna throw it away?

Oh! Is that like a heater thingy that you stick in the bucket (got something like that in the fish tank!) or a jacket thing that you put round the bucket or something?

                1 week later....

Nearly a week in the clear dj, and the celery wine is still looking somewhat opaque.

                Better than it did, tho'...

Well the celery doesn't look great, at the mo, but I sampled my parsnip wine the other day, and it's fab - well worth experimenting!

That's looking good Hazel - your parsnip cleared very quickly but not all wines do - that's where the patience comes in!

                        It's getting there...

                        it's stopped 'working' too.

That looks to be coming along very nicely Hazel - you would appear to have a natural flair for winemaking.

                                6 weeks later...

I've just racked the celery wine off and put it back in the dj (lack of clear bottles, so it can stay in there till I've accumulated a few more).

                                It looks like this....

and the SG is down to 987 which makes the strength

(1096 - 987)/7.36 = 14.8% which is quite enough to be going on with!

And the taste...well - 'robust' for a white wine...more fruity than buttery/vanilla, but not flowery.

                                Rather nice, actually.
