Did I mention that I do too? However, I am pleased to hear that there's a good use for it!

              veg wines

That wine is looking really good, in ccj's time you would never have found a yeast which would brew 14.5%.

I bet that the celery wine would please even celery haters. The brewing process doesn't just take the taste and bottle it, it combines and modifies the ingredients to acheive a balanced pleasant drink.

As can be seen on this site it is also a developing art.

Ooh Hazel, looking good - and 'specially with those posh labels on Very clear too, even if it did take a while.

                      Celery Wine Update

Earthy and harsh to the throat even after 3 months maturing.

Not a great success, but will open another bottle in a few more months as I am an optomist!

Besides, it couldn't possibly taste worse than it does now!

I don't think so, Simon, because the Parsnip Wine (which is slightly stronger) has mellowed to an oaky vanilla-y chardonnay style. Even with a good splash of lemonade this still tastes earthy, and rough!

Oooo... sounds nice. i might have to give that a go. How long has the parsnip been maturing for? I just have my inpatience to contend with is all.

6 months - it should be 12 months, but I couldn't wait and opened a bottle to sample! I'm looking forward to drinking it properly at Christmas...

15 mins of fame ... but not exactly for me!

And here's a turnup for the books!

I had a researcher from UKTV Market Garden program who found this thread and left a message on my blog - she asked if I had any of my celery wine left at all - they are running a feature on celery (filming Thursday, broadcast Thurs 5th Feb) and it's uses.

I said that she's welcome to a bottle, but to be warned that it's not the best - in fact it's only just ok for cooking, and it does taste pretty vile. I also said that I wouldn't be offended when the presenters turn their noses up at it when they taste some.

I don't think that I'll get a mention by name anyway, so my reputation will remain unsullied, but wot a giggle - upstaged by a bottle of wine!
