I've been making jams and chutneys for a while, but I was thinking of making some cordial this year (probably Rhubarb to start off with due to the triffid like qualities of my rhubarb patch) and maybe some rosehip syrup later in the year. I'd love any recipe suggestions and advice that people could share
I've been looking for some decent bottles, preferably the old fashioned type with swing top stoppers, but I've been drawing a blank on ebay. Is there anywhere cheaper than Lakeland? Most of my recycled bottles have had vinegar or oil in and I don't want to taint the flavour. I'm possibly a bit paranoid after being told the family tale of my Aunt's Sloe Gin that was bottled in jars that'd been previously used for Pickled onions Are there any bottles that are unsuitable, or effect it's shelf life? I'm a bit stuck right now!
Also how long does home made cordial last for? I don't want to make gallons and find it goes off quickly... I'd cry!! Please help!!
