  • Fizzing up my own water!

I have a serious fizzy water habit - I drink the most delicious brand and it costs (hangs head in shame) £50 per month to keep me in water. This is obviously money that I could be putting towards my serious wine habit, and so must change.

I've been thinking about getting a water filter and some form of carbonator? What do you think? Anyone out there doing a similar thing? Does it taste alright?

p.s. no point in telling me to drink tap/still water/a cheaper brand...I drink 3 litres a day so I've got to like it! and yes I do recycle my five million bottles per month...

Carbonator...Soda Stream. That'll do the job.

Yes, I'll second the Sodastream, I fizz up tap water in it, keep it in the fridge and there you go, very delicious with homemade lemonade.
If you do get one and they're not easy to find, I think Argos do them, you need to buy extra bottles so you've got plenty chilling in the fridge.
And get the large gas bottle not the small one.
      best wishes

Remember to chill the water BEFORE putting the fizz in. If you chill it after fizzing it goes half-flat in the fridge. Make sure that chilled filtered water is OK (apart from being flat)before you spend out on a soda-stream. If you can genuinely say "that would be nice if it was fizzy" you are in business, otherwise, be cautious.

Brilliant advice all - I'll try my filtered water and if it's good, i'll get a Soda Stream (always wanted one as a kid but my parents refused. We had the Alpine Man instead - who the heck WAS that?) - thanks! x

Didn't realise you could still buy sodastreams! After trying elderflower cordial last night with sparkling water, I was wondering about this. Hmmm, that'll have to go on the list...

Buy direct from Sodastream online. Just google the name. They somtimes have special offers on and are excellent if you have a small problem, ie washers etc. They also sell the concentrates which few shops are now doing (although you only want water don't you - silly me, forgot that!)

Our Sainsbury's and Morrisons do sodastream stuff, so do Robert Dyas stores.

Sounds like a sensible idea. A slightly less sensible idea is what LadyWayne did as a youngster and tried to "fizz" milk in her parents Sodastream. Messy.

We have a water filter/cooler on the fridge, but LadyWayne has also recently taken a liking to a particular fizzy water - Pelegrino. It's cheaper to buy single bottles in ASDA than it is to buy multi packs, go figure.

I always look reminiscently at the Sodastream stuff in the supermarket whenever we pass it.

                    Might look at investing too...

San Pelegrino is nice, for when we want wine AND water with a posh meal (2 wine glasses apiece). Otherwise we use 'supermarket's own', and "must look at sodastream" applies here as well!

Whats the difference between sodastream & soda syphons?

Best Whip - The International Soda & Whipped Cream equipment company.

(Edit - lol! just seen the company's name & url address - the link is 'work safe'!!! )

It's San Pelegrino that I'm addicted to. It's wonderful, but it is expensive. I'm a figure of fun to the Waitrose delivery guys - I order six cases every two weeks. We're a two-wine- glasses-each family too...

THe other day, saw the delivery van out and about, and the guy shouted - "it's the Water Woman!"

Eau dear! (you see what I did there?)
