..... Going to try the ribena recipe from CJJ's book this weekend!
Make sure that you are using the same sort of ribena (concentrate) that CJJ uses - I'm willing to bet that the sugar content of ribena has been reduced over the years, which might play havoc with the batch ...
I'd check the SG when you add the yeast to make sure it's high enough, and add extra sugar if necessary
Thanks for the advice again Hazel, will definately remember to check the SG at the beginning this time! The raspberry is down t 1.000 now and tasting pretty winey!
I made some tomato wine following the recipe from "Drink your own garden",it was described as a pleasant rose, mine wasn't, you could put it on your chips, but you couldn't drink it.

I have raked the soil and planted the seeds
Now I've joined the army that fights the weeds.
I love the smell of Gorse, does the wine have a coconutty bouquet?
To be honest I've only made it the once and I think the bouquet was blown off with the fermentation process.
Next season I think I'll try adding a cupful of the flowers at the end of fermentation and let the alcohol extract the bouquet.

What kind of lychees did you use? I like the idea of this one. Tinned or fresh?
Thanks
