For anyone who loves a good mojito, I've just nailed (what I consider to be) the perfect recipe:
Ingredients:
1 large mint sprig (6 leaves)
1 tsp Brown Sugar
1 slice of lime cut into quarters
1 oz Havana Club (no other rum will doodle-do)
1/2 oz fresh lime juice
1/2 oz sugar syrup/gomme
ice
dash of soda water
lime wedge, mint sprig and straw to finish
Directions:
Put mint, sugar, Havana Club, lime juice, gomme and ice in a Boston Shaker.
Shake vigorously
Pour into highball glass (should almost fill it)
Fill to top with ice
Fill to top with soda water
Add a mint sprig and slice of lime to decorate
Drink with straw (this avoids eating all the shreds of lime)
It really is perfect.
Will try with Angostura Bitters next to see if that really is worth it.
(P.S. Yes, I am trying this as 1 o'clock in the after, otherwise what's the point in being unemployed?)
