        2nd racking: SG is 0094, quite a bit of sediment still.

        It tastes quite like the Cherry Plum wine, but not as nice. I'll give it another month and rack it again.

          Good luck girlie. I have never had any success with home'made wine. I convinced myself once that a tayberry was "divine" with a hint of tayberry and washing up liquid'. It ended up down the sink and didn't even do the washing up.

            Last rack today, and it's ready for bottling, after 4 months. I think it will benefit from keeping for a year.

              I bottled some of it last night and had a glass. I was amazed to find it tastes pretty good! I didn't see any bugs in it. That was my first attempt at wine making so I am well chuffed!

                Finally bottled the greengage wine: it was really clear and really quite drinkable, but OH said a bit sharp. I'll try a bottle in 6 months time

                  Oh, it's not sharp any more! It's really drinkable, comparable to a supermarket Chardonnay, and works out 39p a bottle. Recommended

                          There is a really good book on winemaking called 'Making Wines Like Those You Buy' by Bryan Acton and Peter Duncan. In their recipes they use different fruits to produce wines that really do taste like commercial ones. I made a Hock a couple of years ago I think from apples or rhubarb and it was amazing.
