  • Flavoured rum?

Got lots of sloe gin, patxaran, some blackberry brandy and I don't like vodka...so that leaves rum?

Has anyone tried making flavoured rum? We've a small amount of damsons, some blackberries and some rhubarb...thought we might try 3 sorts. What do you think and with white rum or dark?

I would go with white rum and blackberries, after all you have rum and black, I know that's blackcurrant, but when in Rome and all that..

Haven't ever used rum for fruit liqueurs, but I did fortify some blackberry wine with a dollop of Woods Rum a few years ago. Still remember the sight of my mate sliding down the wall after imbibing!!

What fruit might you enjoy with dark brown sugar? Should work OK with rum. I would reckon the damsons might be safest with the darker rum, but rhubarb might be good with the white type.....

Ah well, was worried that the cheapest white rum might be a bit 'harsh'. So we got some Sainsburys dark rum £11.18/lt and made...blackberry rum, damson rum and rhubarb & ginger rum. Weeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!

If you like coffee, put a few coffee beans in a bottle of cheap dark rum. Put ten in to start with, shake the bottle daily for a couple of weeks and have a sip. If you feel you need more coffee flavour put some more beans in. If you find it too flavoured, divide the strained rum between two jars or bottles and add more rum.
