I know some use finings and some don't but if I wanted to, am I too late?

My damson wine is now just over one year old, and still in demi johns. I'm about to bottle it. Any benefit to using finings now, or any general tips?

'Tis my first go, you see!

I have never used finings in my wine Rhona. No special reason, it's just that most of my wine usually clears by itself so, no need. I think some peeps say it takes something out of the wine too.
If it is clear, then I would just go ahead and bottle it as is. Just make sure you get a good slug of it as you are bottling - quality control purposes only, you understand

scarey has summed it up. If your wine is clear don't bother with finings.
