  • Cleaning wine equipment

Hi has anyone got any ideas how to clean the inside of the plastic tube that is used to decant wine from the demijohn into wine bottles. I usually just rinse mine through with some steralizing solution but I have been given one from a friend and it looks dirty inside.
I dont really want to throw it away as I need a new one and other than that it is in good condition. I have tried bicarb to no avail. Any ideas?
    thanks stella

don't know if this will work but its worth a try, uncooked dried rice in COLD water block each end of and shake for all your might....if its stained it won't work but if its not it should dislodge any particles, this worked a treat on my car windscreen water holder which was caked with c**p.

I'd buy a new tube, it's not worth the risk of contaminating the wine. Tubing isn't that expensive is it?

Tubing's cheap enough. I'd chuck it. Then again I don't use one myself. I use a bucket, a jug and a funnel

Get a new bit of tube - it's cheap as chips. As long as you rinse after use and sterilise it will stay useable for ages, but it's not good to leave it dirty.
