I bought a wine kit 10 days ago. I followed the instructions and it bubbled away merrily. I split the kit into 5 x gallon flagons and because the recipe said 6 days I finished one off yesterday. The contents were very very moreish. However the other 4 are still fermenting well. If I leave them for activity to slow down will the resulting brew be even stronger?

was it a solomon grundy kit? i love them for their quickness and therir easy drinking

Is there a quicker one than the Youngs? I have never heard of Solomon Grundy (good name) I only bought the stuff on 18th April and 1 bottle consumed already!Last edited by zazen999; 27-04-2010, 09:23 PM.

Bren. Have you been at your own juicy stuff? Why is this in 'Feeling fruity'? Eat dirt yourself by pleading with a mod to move it. You know some of us get confused easily. (It's the gin with me not the home brew). Why didn't Noah just swat those 2 greenflies?
Why are they called apartments when they are all stuck together?

Dear Brengirl, the easiest and cheapest(almost) wine you can make has to be this,
1ltr white grape juice
1ltr apple juice/orange juice/apple&banana nectar/ peach nectar whatever!
700g/1lb 5oz sugar
1tsp nutrient
5g sachet champagne yeast
water to 1 gal
should ferment to dry in a week, stabilise with 1 tsp potasium sorbate + 1 campden tablet, sweeten as reqd, should clear of it's own accord in a week, (if processed @ 20c) move to slightly cooler spot after siphoning once clear,(can be drunk now[as can you]) improves with keeping up to 8 months, after that you may aswell just drink it, atb H.Eat well, live well, drink moderately and be happy (hic!)

So I have now bottled all the brew. All 30 bottles of it. Problem is I didn't have enough bottles with lids or corks so temporally I used clingfilm. But, 30 bottles is going to take some time to empty even with my consumption. Methinks how can I protect them from the air for that long. Scratches head and comes up with an idea! I cut the fingers off several vinyl gloves and inserted them over the cling-filled bottle top. They do look a bit unmentionable but problem solved.Attached Files
