Another Elderflower Fizz dilemma

First time I've tried to make elderflower champers/fizz.

Using HFw receipe. Been in the brewing bin for about 5 or six days. just lifted the lid to take a peek, smells nice, no sign of bubbles and there is a 'mold' growing on the elderflowers which poke out of the liquid. Green, blue and white mold...................... Is this OK [looks nasty to me]Ii vaguely remember seeing a HFW prog and I'm pretty sure he lifted the lid of one of his bins and was delighted, I want to be sure as I don't really want to poison myself.

What do I do

Any help on my mouldy elderflowers........... will I die a horrible death

I would be inclined to compost it and start again.

Mine first batch had a very small amount of mould on one of the elderflower heads where it entered the liquid. I removed that bit (probably the size of a little toe nail if not smaller) on about day 4 and no more formed. If there had been more I'd have been a bit more dubious.

The heads should go brownish as they die off, but not mouldy.

I suspect HFW's method leaves the flowers in too long

Cheers for all the replies. poured the whole lot down the drain & hopefully will pick some more elderflowers tomorrow after work and give it another go.

I put a small plate on top of the entire mixture to keep everything submerged.
