Lemon juice is citric acid Snadge. I just use that if I can't get it in chemical form.

It does day on the back of the packets for use in home winemaking. So they shouldn't have given you odd looks!

They are all finished here now, but luckily I had the forethought to freeze loads before we went away Drinking the first lot at the mo, is delish

Hi All, so how much lemon juice do you use if you can't get hold of citric acid? Our flowers aren't even out yet, next week I would think (pray as am getting v.ipatient!)

It wasn't only odd looks, I also got twenty questions as to WHY I needed it (used for drug cutting I believe?)
After all that they said "No', sorry we don't stock it!"

            I mean..........do I LOOK like a drug dealer?........on second thoughts, don't answer that!

All done and dusted now, just nead to leave it for 48 hours then put it in small palstic bottles and freeze it.
If it tastes OK, I've even got time to make another batch!

Yes, it is used to dissolve heroin for injection. Even my homebrew shop keeps it under the counter and will pretend they don't have it if you look suss

Why you going to freeze it?

To stop it going mouldy I think? Been told it will keep for a fortnight in the fridge but keeping it any longer is best done in the freezer and taken out as required. Am I doing wrong, or been given duff info?

Sorry Snadger, misread the title of your first post - thought you were making elderflower fizz. I've never made the cordial so maybe it is best frozen.

I freeze mine and it keeps well. Doesn't actually go hard due to the high sugar content. The only place I can get citric acid is a Home brew shop in the UK and they always question me as to why I want it!!!!!!!

Surely it shouldn't matter a darn jot what you want it for, if it's legal to buy it in the first place?!
