I just go into my local pub and ask for the single portion wine bottles with caps for my fruit vodkas, I think they are 45cl but not sure as I soak off the labels (and wash and sterilise them before storing for use). They are always happy to give me a bagful.

I have to do this every year as despite asking recipients to return the bottles when the contents are empty they never do

I also reuse other people's jars - just asking friends and family usually brings enough. I'm thinking about investing in some lids though as sometimes the jar is fine but the lid is a bit scabby.

I use 'used' single portion wine bottles (25cl or less usually) for fruity-booze (strawberry vodka etc), never used a 'new' bottle for anything of the sort.
Where there will be high temps or high alcohol content, I don't fuss too much about sterilizing, otherwise I rely on a suitable heat treatment (boiling water rinse or dry in oven, whichever is likely to work best). Never had a real problem (well not that I can see any connection to non-sterile conditions).
Flowers come in too many colours to see the world in black-and-white.
