There is a very old, lichen covered pear tree in the field behind our place. It has always blossomed, but never fruited - unless you count the TWO fruit i found on the ground under it the year before last. However, this year it is GROANING with very small "Williams" type pears. Just been out and picked one which was blushing a little and it was surprisingly sweet - though the skin is quite tough and bitter. Cannot bear the thought of them going to waste, so was wondering if anyone has a Perry-type recipe? Do not have any wine/cider making equipment, so the simpler the better!
