It is really simple to make and it tastes delicious. I'm a bit of quarante quatre evangelist, I love it and it always goes down really well as Christmad presents
Thanks, not at all what I was expecting but sounds nice . Interestingly enough it's on page 3 of 4 on the app rather than page 7 took me a while to find - am easily confused

Has anyone got the recipe for 44? I googled it and found a couple but they vary in the sugar content so I'd rather follow in the footsteps of someone who's already made it!

Sory Alison, I linked to the quoted one rather than my original post, I have changed it now.

The one I make Raine is 44 sugar lumps, I tend to use brown sugar in mine. Here in France they are size 4 but I'm not sure if the number is the same in UK. I guess 44 teaspoons would work just as well.

I didn't know sugar lumps came in different sizes either. Actually now I come to think of it, don't think I've seen sugar lumps at all for about 30 years. Which shops still sell them in the UK?

You get brown sugar lumps in Morrisons...son uses them in black coffee. Not sure if you can also get white ones though.

Well you learn something every day, thanks. Avoid supermarkets if at all possible and when I do go in I spend as little time there as possible so suppose I'm unlikely to be browsing enough to notice. Guess if I do make any I'd probably use teaspoons of loose sugar though as have loads of that

I would use a level teaspoon for each sugar lump. You can always add more, I guess.
