Sigh .Think about what happens in Spondon at the bank holiday end of August. If you google "lrp spondon" you might just get somewhere. I hasten to add it's much more OH's thing, I go more for the craic!
My other half used to do LARP and lots of it in Chiselhurst Caves... I take it that's the embarassing thing you are referring to...
... please don't hate me I'm new
... and I make lots of Mead, currently got 4 Demijohns on the go in:
For those as puzzled as I was. I found this on Wikipedia
"A live action role-playing game (LARP or LRP) is a form of role-playing game where the participants physically act out some or all of their characters' actions. LARPs are related to improvisational theatre, although there is usually no audience."
for the full information go to the following link. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Live_ac...e-playing_game
That's the one. I go for the atmosphere more than anything else, not really into the roleplaying thing although many people there are totally obsessed with it. You have to invent a character for yourself, and a character name. Many people invent huge family histories and backgrounds to go with it. There are sword fights, archery, marketplace selling a variety of weaponry (all rubberised - not steel - so safer than the real stuff) and many people have actual chainmail/platemail. And quite a lot of mead is consumed too, going back to the thread!
