Pity you're so far away, I could have taken your bread machine and sent you my two bottles of port in exchange.

Port and Archers does it for me every time. Apparently (I was told whilst on holiday in Warwickshire) it is an old hunting mix. Two thirds Port mixed with One Third Archers. Certainly warms you up whilst out on your horse on a cold winters day!!

The local shooting party have a snifter of half sloe gin with half cheap white sparling wine in a schooner before blasting away at the pheasants! I'm surprised they ever hit anything!

The river Trent is lovely, I know because I have walked on it for 18 years.

Apparently according to my OH once opened, a bottle of port is meant to be drunk til emptied!!!

Now is this a true folk-lore, or is it just his excuse?

Rather partial to the odd glass myself - and for OH's 40th I brought him a century of port, (could only afford the half bottles, got 3 bottles left).

I can't think of anything else to do with it apart from drinking it!

Port and strong cheese - heaven!!! I've always thought I should try it in gravy and the like but there never seems to be any left, can't imagine why?!
Life may not be the party we hoped for but since we're here we might as well dance

Mmmmm, never heard of that before but I'm certainly going to give that a try when I get home. Sunday is the day we usually have an afternoon port so, if you don't see me on Sunday night chat, you'll know why

Welcome to the vine btw - what a great way too introduce yourself
