Emptying the freezer

Last year we had an amazing year for Morello Cherries. The problem is I still have bags and bags of them in the freezer. I still have cherry jam as well and since I first made lemon curd for my husband has neglected the jam and keeps demanding more lemon curd.
So today I have had the " brilliant" idea of using some of the cherries to make cherry curd.
I don't know yet if it is going to be my husband's new favourite but it definitely tastes nice.
Has anyone else made any other curd but lemon?

I've made orange curd and I think you can use gooseberries too.

I don't grow gooseberries but I think next year I just might. Do they give fruit the first year? Are they best planted in Winter? I can suddenly imagine the taste (some long forgotten childhood memory).
