I think this comes into the Why didn't I think of that category.
Don't buy semi-skimmed or skimmed milk, buy wholemilk and water it down as required. Same price so you get more for your money.

It won't really work, skimmed milk isn't watered down whole milk, it's whole milk with some of the fat removed ie it's still got the same amount of, for example, calcium. If you water down whole milk then you'll reduce the goodness as well as the fat.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Milk ? what is that stuff they sell in cartons ? I look at the sell by dates in amazement and know that whatever is in there it's not milk. Whatever it is it's very handy and I use it, but milk it is not ! It doesn't taste like milk and what do they do to it to make it keep for weeks ?
Real milk has a very strong flavour and might keep 24 hours. The stuff in the cartons is irradiated, skimmed, heat treated and dear knows what to produce something that tastes of nothing and will keep for weeks. Horrible but handy. Rave over.

From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.

... and it tastes good too!

But have to agree with Alison. Skimmed and Semi- is not watered down milk but less fat, also skimmed has more calcium than whole milk???

And the amount of calcium is important for ladies of a certain age. Osteoporosis for e.g.

We use semi skimmed all the time - however I recently bought a pint of full fat to use as a water/milk solution to spray my peas with. I only used a small amount of the milk and then drank the rest - forgot how good it tastes compared to semi skimmed!

Not sure I'd be too keen on "proper" milk, but hey, until you've tried it....

The only time I miss full fat milk now ( having used semi-skimmed for about 20years) is top of the bottle, freezing cold , on top of cornfakes with plenty of sugar.. Not had it for years....but now you've got me dreaming......

Granny used to make Birds custard with Jersey milk on Sundays poured over steamed apple sponge pudding.......aaaahhhhhhh

Think it must be lunch time.......

Lucky you. I havent drunk a glass of milk in years as I grew up with milk straight from the cow (well the local farm) then my mum bred dairy goats for years. However, I prefer semi-skimmed in tea as I find full fat milk too heavy in that.
