  • Unripe plums

A branch of my Victoria Plum tree snapped today so I am after suggestions for what I can do with some unripe plums or will they ripen if I just leave them?
Nestled somewhere in the Cambridgeshire Fens. Good soil, strong winds and 4 Giant Puffballs!

    How unripe are we talking?
If they have already turned from green to yellow then as long as they are undamaged they should ripen indoors in around a week (they'll never turn properly red, though, so you'll need to judge ripeness by how soft they are).
If they are still green though then they will never ripen.. You could turn them into green plum chutney, though.

Thanks Ameno, there's a mix, but mostly on the turn and yellow. I'll give them a week or so. I've previous made green tomato and ripe plum chutney, green plum seems a sensible blend of the two!
