Ouch, too close to the mark!

Anyone got any good soup recipes?

Thanks zazen, I haven't got any celery and I'm literally miles away from the shops, is there anything else I could use, or just leave it out?

Actually I haven't got any creme fresh either, what about if I just lobbed a whole onion in with the PSB and cooked it like that......... that's the Orinoco way of cooking

Why not....make sure the onion is cooked slowly and for quite a while and you won't need anything else other than water, a stock cube and seasonings [and the broccoli of course]

Yes, rather than waste it, just chop an onion and cook on a low heat with some oil for 5 mins. Add the PSB and stir for another 5mins (add some herbs, if you have any for flavour). Add stock (and if you have none then even plain boiled water will do). Simmer for 15 mins and then wizz. Eat some, bag up the rest and freeze. You can add creme fraise at the point of eating, it doesn't freeze well anyway. PLEASE DON'T WASTE IT !!I wish I lived near you !!

Right, thankyou all very much, I am suitably revved up and ready to make soup.
I do have stock btw, so it should be OK, tbh while steamed PSB is gorgeous, it is getting a little grating.

A couple of cloves of garlic, an onion, a couple of hot home grown chillis, we've ran out of the marigold stock so I used some chicken stuff we've had lying around for years, some chives and oregano from the garden, pepper. Did the rest as advised and it's absolutely gorgeous, thanks peeps!

Womble, do you have a farm shop near you? You could maybe try taking some over to them and doing a swap for something else!

Or bring some over to me, and I will do dinner!

I could nearly be jealous, but after months of deliberating and agonising it seems that my psb has decided to have a massive growth spurt and is now just starting to have tiny purple sprouts!

Too late, it's all soup now. I don't think there was enough for a shop anyway.
I'm so glad your psb is finally coming on, maybe you can even harvest some before you need to dig it up to let the next crop go in.

Some of us don't like frozen vegetables and prefer to eat in season.
All winter I've had cabbage, leek, brussel sprouts, parsnips, kale, swede, kohl rabbi, onions, garlic, shallots, spinach beet, chard and some lettuce and mizuna. I like that better than frozen brocolli.

I like beans and peas frozen, but not much else really, like Alice.

Alice what I would like from you, is a list of when you sow all your winter veg and if you grow anything in a greenhouse. Please

Also what lettuce do you use over winter?
