  • I'm armed and quite dangerous...!

I have Bought a Jam Thermometer.!!

And a new long wooden spoon.

Now I need to attempt to make my 1st ever batch of Strawberry Jam.!

I have also bought some of that Jam Sugar, in a red packet. The recipe is on the back.

I'm trying my Bread-maker recipe, and also a saucepan recipe.

It will have to be tomorrow though as It's too late tonight and I think I will need several hours to clean up and sooth the burns.

I have Tonnes of Strawberries ripening in the garden that need using.

Just hope I have enough jars...... I have 4.

    Wish me luck everybody.

    Good luck

If you're using jam sugar, it doesn't take that long to set - only 4 - 5 minutes at a full boil. It's great for strawberry jam because the strawberries keep their colour and flavour I was really lucky last year - our Co-op was having a refit and sold off all the jam sugar at less than half price! I managed to grab 6 bags which are sitting in the cupboard waiting for the fruit

You can also use the Microwave to make small quantites of jam.
And 4 jars sounds too few, I'd get stocking up if I were you. Have you got tops for the jars and labels?
And once you start on pickling and making chutney....

4 Jars is too few, I am letting the bread-maker make 1 jar tonight, it takes 300g of strawbs and I accidentally picked 750g, so I have been forced to eat some.!!

I have labels, bands, tops and the best ever crop of Straws, but am lacking Jars. Will put up a notice at work tomorrow begging for some.!

I have discovered smart price marmalade from Asda is 20p each, just the right size jars.

I have some pickle jars and I have done red cabbage in the past.... but my usual mistake is make a huge jar of whatever then struggle to eat it all...smaller jars are my mantra now.!

In 50 Min's i might have Jam or a mess to clear up.!!

Well its done, not quite a jar full sadly, but it looks good and smells divine.

Just need it to cool down quite a lot now before a taste.

Discovered labels in lid pack are rubbish little white sticky ones, so looking for more twee ones on-line now.!
