Onion Chutney

Does it matter how sweet is the onions that go in the Chutney? do sweet onions makes for better flavored Chutney?

I am asking as I found out that the Tesco's 'Market Value' onions in 2kg bags are extremely sweet this year, you can eat them raw!! I would say these are as sweet as the Dulcinea Supasweet I had in the garden last year.

Doesn't matter - you can adjust the final taste with spices etc

I've used various types of onions for chutney over the past couple of years. White, red, a mixture of both. I've had good results with both. Have a look at the onion chutney recipes on the vine - all good!
