Grew from free seeds for the first time. Prospective son in law mad about hot stuff. I mean puts them on everything. So does anybody know how I can preserve them instead of buying Old El Paso brand Jalapenos? I'm guessing some sort of brine concoction.

I grew them, and froze them, Donna.
I have pickled some hotter ones, if you do a search, I think there's already a thread about it.
Basically I picked them, washed them, de-seeded and then sat them in first boiling water for 5 mins, then salted them overnight (to draw out the moisture) rinsed, then popped them into a sterilised jar with peppercorns and bayleaf (not obligatory). Filled it to the top with cider vinegar. Then I placed the jar in a bowl of boiling water for 10 mins to seal it.
Hey presto!

If they are like chilli peppers then I just string them up in a cool place to dry. I'm still using mine from last year.
