    Alison I think that could be the recipe I found here on the vine it didn't mention water so that's the one I went with in the end.

      hi there, I have made this recipe and added the water, and it turned out great both times `i have made it.

        Made loads of this last year (using mainly plums) and it has kept very well - so I think the recipe is absolutely fine as it stands. (I assume he added a bit more water because it was coming out rather too thick when he tested it)
