Drying Orange Slices?

How do I dry out orange slices for decoration without a dehydrator?

slice them thinly, thread some string through, hang up somewhere dry

Try slicing them thinly and putting on a wire cake rack in the oven on its very lowest setting. They will take several hours to dry -maybe overnight.

I would have said the oven option, if you have a Rayburn/Aga that would be ideal, but even a conventional oven would be ok. I did apple slices 2 years ago like that, and still have a few left.

I, too, would have said the oven option. Another thing my OH and I used to do was burn some of the dried slices when we ran out of air freshener.

in sunny weather, a few days, in winter when I made them, about 7 days...

It's one of my entries for the local Agri Show this coming weekend! I'm entering the 'Any Other Handicraft' section with a basket of home-made bath stuff - Orange and Rosemary scented....

Soap, Bath salts/soak, Solid moisturiser bar and bath cookies (like bath bombs but easier!)

I want to dry some orange slices for decoration, but also to put on the top of my bath cookies
