anyone else roaming around the kitchen trying to justify washing out half-finished jars of marmalade in order to make room for the TIDE of green tomato chutney about to engulf them?
oh help.
I have got a bag of green ones on the windowsill with a couple of red ones in it. They will all turn red eventually. Then slice in half put into a roasting tin with some garlic and herbs when soft rub the lot through a sieve and freeze great for pasta, soup etc.
Place the larger green tomatoes in a paper bag with a ripe banana, the ethanol from the banana will ripen the tomatoes. But keep an eye on the banana...just in-case it goes all mushy...yuk!!!
freecycle. I just got 15 carrier bags of jars, 5 of which were useable to me, 1 which had to be chucked, and the rest got given away in the last couple of days.
