pickled onions

Hello all
I have some shallots that i want to oickle and am looking for a tried and tested recipe please. Ive not really done much pickling except beetroot so am a novice.

Ive read lots of different things about brining etc can any one advise a recipe for spicey crisp onions that keep well please?
