I think I'm hooked on preserving stuff!
Last year and the year before I made chutneys and bread and butter pickles and I'm planning on making more this year.
I used a well known brand of 'pickling vinegar' for the first batch of my bread and butter pickles this year as it was a lot cheaper than any of the other vinegar available in the supermarket and it worked out fine, just adjusted my spices slightly.
Is there a cheaper alternative to the cider vinegar / white wine vinegar that so many recipes call for? At anything up to £1.40 for a 350ml bottle it quickly adds up!
