Thank you! I was wondering about the lids so I just went and bought the wax disc and cellophane circles which I could use instead. I haven't before so it will be interesting to see how it goes
Nope, I never use wax circles. You could try rubbing the inside of the lids with a cut lemon - an old trick we used to use at the pub to get rid of the smell of Pernod on glasses.
Please be careful with reusing old lids as the seal may not work properly on reusing .....and for anything containing vinegar the inside of the lid needs to be plasticided else it will rust......

That's why I prefer the lids with a dimple in the middle. If it flattens out (you often hear them popping) then you know it has sealed. Any that don't pop get stored in the fridge and used quickly
