Has anyone successfully made jam from frozen fruit?

My strawberries and raspberries are all ripening, and we will eat as many as possible, but I'm not going to be able to make any jam for a couple of weeks, due to new k........n, being built,so wondered if this is possible?

I often make jam from frozen fruit, it helps to break it down too. If I don't have enough for a particular recipe, I freeze and add to until I have enough. I still have elderberries in the freezer waiting to be made into wine

Never made it from frozen Strawberries but all other fruit is fine. Guess what I do in Jan/Feb?

I suppose you could add extra pectin to the strawberries? Or chuck in an extra lemon?

Jam over here is called confiture...it's much more runny so if my jam doesn't set I call it confiture and if it does, it's called jam...simples!

I've tried making it with frozen strawberries and it really didn't want to set. The same strawberries, when used fresh, are never a problem.

I cook the fruit in a little sugar syrup, then freeze in small packs, use it for making ice cream later, or as a fresh jam if I let it thicken a bit, or as a topping sauce for ice cream, sponge pud.
Useful if you've run out of time, or jars!

Interesting, I've never found any difference. I gently cook the strawbs with lemon juice for about 45mins then add the sugar (normal stuff, not that weird stuff with added pectin), boil up to setting point and perfect set every time. Make loads of it every year and a good 50% is always from frozen fruit due to often not having the time when the gluts turn up.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

I too freeze my fruit and make jam, including strawberries. So far, I've never had a problem.

Yes. Usually because it's too hot and sunny to spend the day in the kitchen making jam when the fruit is ripe.
